Conference venues and directionsConference venues and directionsThe main part of the conference will take place in the Leibnizhaus, which is located in the Centre of the Historical Old Town of Hannover. A few events will take place in the nearby Hanns-Lilje-Haus. Get to the conference venuesThe conference venues are located within convenient reach of Hannover Main Station (Hannover Hauptbahnhof).
If you take the plane, it might be advantageous to go to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and take a direkt ICE to Hannover. Especially, if you have to take a connecting flight to Hannover. There is an ICE train station at Frankfurt Airport and some trains go directly to Hannover. Sometimes you have to change in Frankfurt Main Station. Some Airlines sell Rail&Fly tickets or sell the train as a connection to the flight (I know that Lufthansa does this). Düsseldorf (DUS) also has an ICE train station direct at the Airport. Hamburg and Berlin also might be interesting options, but there you have to use public transport from the Airport to the Main Stations. From Hannover Main Station to the conference venuesIf you arrive at Hannover Main Station by S-Bahn or train, leave the plattform. Each plattform has two stairs with escalators each, one going up and one going down. Each plattform also has one elevator.
Tickets and information for public transport in HannoverPublic transport in Hannover mainly consists of buses and underground light rail. To and from the airport you take the S-Bahn. You can find detailed information for public transport tickets here: https://www.gvh.de/en/tickets-prices/price-overview/ From the Airport: You need a ticket for zone AB (zones A and B combined). If you only want a one-way ticket to the conference venue or your hotel, a Single ticket may suffice. If you plan to ride more than once, a Day ticket may be more advantageous. If you buy your ticket from the vending machine on the S-Bahn platform, please make sure to validate it (there is a separate machine for this). Validation is only required for tickets you buy at S-Bahn ticket vending machines (generally: ticket vending machines operated by Deutsche Bahn and other regional train operators). Tickets you buy at underground light rail ticket machines do not need to be validated (rule of thumb: if your ticket does not fit into a validator, you do not need to validate). The ticket you buy for the S-Bahn is also valid on the underground light rail. An alternative to buying a ticket for the S-Bahn on the platform is to buy an online ticket. Online tickets do not need to be validated.
